Zero Waste
Lenah was founded to reduce waste. Waste reduction is a core business value. The goal is complete utilisation of the whole animal.
Meat not suitable for restaurant or retail sale is made into smallgoods and bones into pet food.
Waste reduction has been taken to the next level with the creation of “Wuggs”, wallaby fur Ugg boots. Each boot uses multiple skins, an item that historically has gone to landfill.
Packaging
We are actively investigating ways to move away from single use plastics to less environmentally impactful options.
FOGO
Since 2023 our organic waste has been made into fertilisers by the Launceston City Council’s FOGO (food organics garden organics) facility. This abates over 6 tonnes of carbon per year.
